How do I communicate technical SEO findings to product and design teams?

Short answer: Communicate the finding in the product team language, not in SEO jargon: user impact, business impact, and effort. Instead of explaining crawl budget, show which page is losing value and why.

A handover format that works

  • Use a one-page structure per finding: what is broken, who it affects, evidence (log entry, screenshot, data), the proposed fix, and the estimated effort.
  • Translate prioritization into product language: tasks ordered by impact and effort, sized so they fit directly into sprint planning.
  • Give the design team examples rather than rules: correct and incorrect implementation in a side-by-side visual comparison.
  • Write findings into the team existing workflow: not a separate SEO report, but a trackable ticket in the backlog.

The most durable method is a shared metric: if SEO health indicators appear on the dashboard the product team already watches, technical SEO comes up naturally at every release, and fixes turn from favors into planned work.
